Occasionally, a DBS application can be verified incorrectly, and need to be unverified to amend the application.
To allow for this, we have created the ability to "unverify" an application when it is Awaiting Countersigning. This will move it back to a stage where it is waiting for ID verification, enabling both customers and our operations teams to rectify any errors made by the Subject, replace documents, and query any information as needed before resubmitting.
There is no action you need to take to activate this feature, it will show on the IDV Screen for all people with DBS Verifier permissions.
How to Unverify an Application
Verified DBS applications that have not been countersigned will now show an Unverify button. Clicking this button will move the DBS application back to a stage where it can be re-verified, after any amendments have been made or information has been confirmed from the Subject.

Once you are happy with the information provided, you can verify as normal.
Things to Note
It is important to not become reliant on the ability to unverify. Countersigning can happen at any point in the day, and once a DBS application has been countersigned it can not be edited.
Only people with the permission DBS Verifier can Unverify an application. To give someone this permission just navigate the the User management menu, select the relevent user, and allow this permission in the drop down menu.
